JOHN BARRYMORE



John Barrymore (born John Sidney Blythe; February 14 or 15, 1882 – May 29, 1942) was an American actor on stage, screen and radio. A member of the Drew And families he initially tried to avoid the stage, and briefly attempted a career as an artist, but appeared on stage together with his father Maurice in 1900, and then his sister Ethel the following year. He began his career in 1903 and first gained attention as a stage actor in light comedy, then high drama, culminating in productions of justice (1916), Richard (1920) and Hamtel (1922); his portrayal of Hamlet led to him being called the "greatest living American tragedian".







RAJA HARISHCHANDRRA



Raja Harishchandrra is a 1913 Indian silent film, directed and produced by Dadasaheb Phalke, and is the first full-length Indian feature film.[1] The film was based on the legend of Raja Harishchandra, recounted in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The silent film had intertitles in Marathi and its cast and staff were primarily Marathi people.






The film marked a historic benchmark in the film industry in India. Only one print of the film was made and shown at the Coronation Cinematograph. It was a commercial success and paved the way for more such films.







ALAM ARA





Alam Ara (Hindi: आलम आरा, Urdu: عالم آراء‎, translation: The Ornament of the World) is a 1931 Indian Bollywood film directed by Ardeshir Irani. It was the first Indian sound film.






Irani recognised the importance that sound would have on the cinema, and raced to complete Alam Ara before several contemporary sound films. Alam Ara debuted at the Majestic Cinema in Mumbai (then Bombay) on 14 March 1931. The first Indian talkie was so popular that "police aid had to be summoned to control the crowds.




The film has long been lost and was not available as far back as 1967 according to the National Film Archive of India, Pune.
